cowl scarf

So I finally made a few of these scarves that I've been obsessing over. These are a green and purple slub fabric and have a great texture. Here is a crappy pic of me that I took myspace-style.

Cardy

So I finally broke down and started on this god awful cardinal/priest costume for my friend. This is an awful pic but I wanted to show off the pretty pleats in the back. I DID NOT capture them in this shot but they look great in person haha. This is a huge hot red mess right now. I'm worried about it fitting around him and I already know it's wayyyy too long. I'll figure it out tho. yeah.

I'm watching project runway and I've realized that I definitely never ever in a million zillion years could go on this show. There are just days when I just really don't want to be productive. I can definitely force productivity but it's not pretty trust me. Plus I can't work with people watching me so I would probably just sit there waiting for the cameraman to turn around, sew for a few seconds, wait, sew, and never ever finish haha! yeah I'm lame whatever.

Red Red Mannequin

Yeah I have a bright red mannequin. so what? OK I hate it. It's horrible for photographing my garments. I wish I had some model friends down here. Maybe I'll just recruit some girls from work next week.

So this has been my first week at my real job and I have had absolutely no time to myself. I want to sew but I am just way too wiped by the time I get home from the office. This weekend is going to suck cuz I'll just be glued to my machine and never see my boyfriend...where is he anyways?

Let's see...what photos can I show you today? I really want to take some pics of my office so you can see the chaos that is my life but I look like crap every night so that hasn't happened yet.

Here's some inspiration for you:

Love those colors :)

Oh Jesus I need to get off the couch

I went to work, sat thru 8 hours of training, had my debit card declined and someone had to pay for my lunch, went to the gym, drove bf to work and I CANNOT get off this couch to make this huge red costume!!! HELP!!!
Instead I'm just watching office reruns. sad.

Soooo what's new...I'm planning lots of new accessories for the store! Look out for cute little fleece and felt flower headbands and hair clips. You can also expect me to spend way more time than necessary making some really neat scarves. And while we're on the flowers, check out these fabric necklaces upcycled from strips of cotton. I wear this red one as a cuff bracelet every time we go out.

Unfortunately payday isn't for another week so creativity may come to a halt, other than the halloween costumes I've got lined up :) photos coming soon!

Insert sewing pun here

Hi!

I'm Jessi, owner and designer for JessaLynnE Designs. I have a store on Etsy.com, a home office and lots of magnets and stickers on my car advertising the fact that I can sew and alter clothing! I just wanted one more venue to reach you wonderful people who spend their days crawling the internet for neat new stuff :)

So over the past month I've probably posted 30 items to my store. It's a very exciting feeling every time I add one more new item. It's not till the next day that I'm checking my page views for each item that I realize the recession is greatly affecting the artsy world just as badly as other retailers. I'm not going to lie, this is really getting to my creative spirit. I sell one thing and use that small amount of money to buy even more fabric or materials instead of paying bills because, one, I have a serious shopping problem, but also because I don't want to stop hoping that someone will want to wear my designs!

As of late I have been having a lot of trouble coming up with anything interesting. It's frustrating when you WANT to be creative but nothing comes to you. I learned at an Arts of Fashion Master Class to try things differently whether you think it will work or now. I've added small details to sweaters and purses to add that little bit of interest that I feel I've may have lost for a while.

I've really gotten into making great big bags too and am working on a great line of fall/winter home dec inspired fabrics. I've always loved bags with straight, sturdy lines that silently incorporate curves. I feel like they are super-chic and the most useful. Business women can feel cute and still look business-y! Bohemian women can be trendy and sophisticated! All they have to do is throw one of these great Stacy bags on their shoulders and BAM! Awesome! :P

Anywho, thanks for checking me out. I have a couple of halloween costumes to bang out tonight. More on those in tomorrow's blog!
